Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
